Field of Three Waters
Three shallow basins held by a low stone edge. The garden is mostly grass and sky; the water draws the seasons in.
Image plate
A former drainage field at the edge of a working-class neighbourhood, returned to public use. The design adds almost nothing: three shallow basins, a low stone edge, and a single line of plane trees.
The basins fill in winter and partially evaporate by late summer. The garden is therefore different in every month.
Maintenance is shared between the municipality and a neighbourhood association; we wrote a short manual rather than a planting plan.
